PASTOR’S THOUGHTS
Happy New Year!! 🎉 New Year Prayer from Billy Graham ❤️ Our Father and our God, as we stand at the beginning of this new year we confess our need of Your presence and Your guidance as we face the future. We each have our hopes and expectations for the year that is ahead of us—but You alone know what it holds for us, and only You can give us the strength and the wisdom we will need to meet its challenges. So help us to humbly put our hands into Your hand, and to trust You and to seek Your will for our lives during this coming year.In the midst of life’s uncertainties in the days ahead, assure us of the certainty of Your unchanging love. In the midst of life’s inevitable disappointments and heartaches, help us to turn to You for the stability and comfort we will need. In the midst of life’s temptations and the pull of our stubborn self-will, help us not to lose our way but to have the courage to do what is right in Your sight, regardless of the cost. And in the midst of our daily preoccupations and pursuits, open our eyes to the sorrows and injustices of our hurting world, and help us to respond with compassion and sacrifice to those who are friendless and in need. May our constant prayer be that of the ancient Psalmist: “Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end” (Psalm 119:33). We pray for our nation and its leaders during these difficult times, and for all those who are seeking to bring peace and justice to our dangerous and troubled world. We pray especially for Your protection on all those who serve in our armed forces, and we thank You for their commitment to defend our freedoms, even at the cost of their own lives. Be with their families also, and assure them of Your love and concern for them. Bring our divided nation together, and give us a greater vision of what You would have us to be. Your Word reminds us that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12). As we look back over this past year we thank You for Your goodness to us—far beyond what we have deserved. May we never presume on Your past goodness or forget all Your mercies to us, but may they instead lead us to repentance, and to a new commitment to make You the foundation and center of our lives this year. And so, our Father, we thank You for the promise and hope of this new year, and we look forward to it with expectancy and faith. This I ask in the name of our Lord and Savior, who by His death and resurrection has given us hope both for this world and the world to come. Amen.
A PEOPLE OF HOPE Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Just as certainly as we are people of the Word…we are also a people of Hope. One sure sign of a Holy Spirit-filled person is that he or she not only believes Jesus is coming, but they live in hope and with expectation of His coming. Such faith does not see His second coming as the entirety of their hope. Of course, Jesus’ return is our highest hope…but faith-filled people believe that the King is ready to come today…to enter your life’s circumstances with His grace, love, and power! We have hope in Jesus coming to us today! Zechariah, one of the greatest prophets of the Messiah’s return, said, “Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope” (Zech. 9:12). He spoke literally of a people who were imprisoned, that is, “shut up unto” hope. What a concept…to be inescapably bound to the confidence that our Redeemer is coming today to meet us with His fully sufficient grace…and that He is coming soon to take us to eternal glory! ❤️—Jack Hayford
But I have this hope In the depth of my soul In the flood or the fire, You’re with me and You won’t let go So, whatever happens I will not be afraid Cause You are closer than this breath that I take you calm the storm when I hear You call my name I still believe that one day I’ll see Your face –lyrics from, I Have This Hope, by Tenth Avenue North
THE PRINCE OF PEACE LEADS YOU: When the enemy comes in like a flood…the Lord WILL raise up a standard again. Though injustice seems like it’s winning the day…God is still on His throne and will have the last say. Hide under the shadow of His wing and let your heart rest until it beats in rhythm with His. Cast off fear and grab a firmer hold of faith. Ask Jesus what your assignment looks like in this season… Who are you supposed to help? Who are you supposed to pray for? Who do you need to forgive? Who do you need to support? A healthy heart condition is critical to accomplishing God’s mission… God is with you in this place. Your best days are NOT behind you…in fact, they’re right in front of you. Though the enemy knows how to wound us…God knows how to heal us. Though the enemy is a crafty liar…Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life…and He is for you. Don’t panic. Don’t grab for quick solutions. Seek peace and pursue it. Your Prince of Peace will faithfully lead you onward and upward. His plans for you are good! ❤️
RETURN TO GIVE THANKS: One day ten men with leprosy approached Jesus and called out; “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” (Luke 17:13). Jesus didn’t immediately heal the lepers. Instead, He gave them a simple instruction; “Go, show yourselves to the priests” (Luke 17:14). The lepers demonstrated great faith when they followed Jesus’ command; “And as they went, they were cleansed” (Luke 17:14). Notice that the lepers had to take action before they were healed; their action was a demonstration of their faith.
Though all ten lepers had been cleansed of their terrible disease, only one returned to give thanks; “He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked Him” (Luke 17:16). Jesus responded with a very convicting question. Luke 17:17
“Jesus asked, ‘Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?'”
I wonder if we really understand the degree to which we have been healed and made clean; “God made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgression” (Ephesians 2:5). We were DEAD, and He made us alive with Christ – that’s serious healing!! Our Heavenly Father reached down in love and provided a way for complete restoration when we did not even have the ability to cry out for help; “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8) – that’s serious love!! His Hand guided us toward healing through His Son…and His Hand continues to heal in countless ways on our daily walk. Every time relationships are restored…His hand has healed; When conflicts are resolved…His hand has healed; When He lovingly welcomes us back after we have wandered from His presence…His hand has healed. But do we return to thank Him? Or are we as the other nine lepers who go on our way and forget the One to whom we owe our very lives. The one leper who returned threw himself at Jesus’ feet. If we knew how deathly sick we are without Christ and how completely He has healed our soul, we would not only throw ourselves at His feet, but we would remain and refuse to ever leave. Let’s live each day in the presence of God and continually come before Him with hearts overflowing with thanksgiving and praise. Let’s remember our divine healing and ALWAYS be the one who will return to give thanks! ❤️—Steve Troxel
FIX YOUR EYES ON THE UNSEEN: Every hour of our life is a sacred gift from a God who loves us. Every moment is packed with eternal possibilities. As God’s precious children, we live under the light of God’s smile, and we’re flanked by guardian angels. As born again believers, we have a reserved and secure place at the Table of Grace and home in heaven that will take our breath away. May we have the wisdom to number our days…that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Let’s lift our gaze from what we can see…so we can envision what we cannot see: face-to-face fellowship with Jesus…life eternal…holy habitation…and joy abundant. We will lack nothing…possess all things…and never have another insecure day as long as we live. That’s our inheritance in Christ Jesus. Let’s live like it’s true today!! ❤️ Psalm 90:12
So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. 2 Corinthians 4:18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Isaiah 59:19 (NKJV) ~ So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.As we focus on God’s faithfulness throughout history…we can rest in His unquestionable promise of securing our present… and our future, too!
GOD IS ON OUR SIDE TODAY! ❤️What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? Romans 8:31 The Word of God does NOT say “maybe God is for us” or “hopefully, God is for us.” It simply says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Indeed, when God is for you, what opposition can succeed against you? When God Himself fights for you…defends you…and vindicates you…what adversity or adversary can stand against you? There are none! Hallelujah! Why is God is on our side? The answer is found at the cross. The blood that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, shed on the cross put God on our side. Today, God can be for us even when we fail…because Jesus’ blood has washed us whiter than snow! Remember what happened on the night of the Passover…the children of Israel put the blood of the lamb on their doorposts. The blood put God on their side! None of the families who had applied blood on their doorposts had to fear the death of their firstborn children. Were the firstborn children of Israel spared that night because of their perfect behavior and conduct…or were they spared because of the blood of the lamb? It was because of the blood of the lamb! In the same way, God does not bless us, as a believer, based on our perfect behavior and conduct. He is for us today because of the blood of the perfect Lamb—Jesus Christ. That is why…as believers today…we don’t have to fight for ourselves. God is on our side today because of Jesus’ blood. His holiness and righteousness that men are afraid of…are now on our side because of Jesus’ blood. His unmerited favor is on our side and all of heaven’s resources are ours because of Jesus’ blood! Now, who or what can come successfully against us? no sickness… no disease… no creditor… no evil accusation… no gossip… no failure… Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.
FRUITFULNESS: ”So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it” Isaiah 55:11. Evangelism (the spreading of the Good News) and expansion (the enlarging of life’s potential under God) both multiply by the “seed” of God’s Word. Jesus also described the Word as “seed”—the source of all saving life and growth possibilities coming from the Father to mankind.

Whether we come to Him with a spiritual need…physical need…or emotional need…all increase of life within God’s love comes by His Word, as human response gives room for His blessing to happen. When received, God’s word of promise will never be barren. The POWER in His Word…will always fulfill the PROMISE of His Word. We never need wonder how faith is developed or how fruitfulness is realized. Fruitfulness is the guaranteed by-product of God’s Word…whether for the salvation of a lost soul…or the provision of a disciple’s need. God’s Word cannot be barren or fruitless. His own life-power is within it! ❤️—Jack Hayford
INTENDED FOR GOOD: Joseph’s life was filled with one difficult situation after another. By the time he was a teenager, his brothers had developed an intense hatred toward him which led to an attempt to take his life. But rather than kill him, they sold young Joseph into slavery (Genesis 37). And then, as a slave, Joseph was falsely accused of rape and thrown into jail (Genesis 39). It’s never really explained how Joseph learned to trust God…but he did! He could have become very discouraged when he became a slave, but somehow Joseph adjusted to his circumstances and thrived; “The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered” (Genesis 39:2). When tempted with sexual sin by Potiphar’s wife, he kept himself pure because he did not want to “sin against God” (Genesis 39:9). But false accusations still sent him into prison. Even after spending several years in jail, Joseph continued to place his complete trust in God. When asked to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams, Joseph risked his freedom and rightly gave all the glory and praise to God rather than take credit for himself; “I cannot do it, but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires” (Genesis 41:16). When Joseph was sold into slavery, he had no idea of God’s awesome plan. All he could do was continue to trust and draw nearer to God. Joseph would spend many years in jail before receiving even a hint of God’s purpose. But God is ALWAYS at work in the lives of those who love Him. Joseph’s life encourages us to draw ever closer to God during times of hardship…to continue trusting and honoring Him in all we do…no matter what our circumstances! We all go through “dungeon” seasons when life seems to take unplanned and seemingly “unfair” turns. We all, at times, feel abandoned and alone: “Has God forgotten me? Does He no longer care?” We may not understand why things happen the way they do…but if we will continue to love Him with all our heart…and consistently trust Him in and through all our trials…we can be certain (and one day we will truly see) that God’s work in every situation is truly intended for good! ❤️—Steve Troxel
KING OF THE EARTH: God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. Psalm 47:8 Our God is the ultimate conqueror of all kingdoms. He will be exalted among the nations. Though awesome in power, He is no tyrant. Therefore, all nations are summoned to welcome His reign with the clapping of hands and the shouting of victory…and are invited to “sing praises with understanding” (Ps. 47:7) to the king of all the earth. Our God conquers to liberate. He captures to release. He subdues to free. Personally or nationally, God is the only king who can truly set free. Because sin enslaves…its power must be broken by a greater power…which is the power of a righteous and holy God. Therefore, we “sing praises with understanding.” We recognize that “God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.” Only our God…whose throne is holy…is able to free individuals and nations from the tyranny of sin. So let’s sing His praises with understanding. With the nations, let us clap our hands and shout to God with the voice of triumph! He is our King! He is the King of all kings! ❤️—Jack Hayford
TURN YOUR FACE HEAVENWARD: There are things in your soul that God wants to remove far from you. Things like shame, rejection, self-contempt, and fear. There are places in your soul that God wants to heal…truly heal…so you’ll know a kind of freedom you’ve not known before. Some burdens weigh heavy that aren’t yours to carry. Jesus wants to hold those for you. Some of the dreams in your heart were actually put there by God Himself. Don’t be so quick to dismiss them. Give God time and space to show you what He wants to do in and through you. Slow your pace and turn your face towards the One who holds the universe in His hand…and who holds you very close to His heart. Follow His lead. You can trust Him. May His deep, restorative work surprise and bless you beyond your wildest dreams. You are priceless to Him. Believe it! ❤️ Psalm 23:1-3 NLT The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows, he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. —Susie Larson
